Celebrate Good Times

Celebrate Good Times

When the chaps from Latics United dropped this idea in with us yesterday, we thought “what a great idea, let’s leave promoting it until tomorrow, it’ll go down great with a morale boosting performance under our belt.”  We might have got that last bit wrong, but it’s still a great idea and probably more important than ever.

3 days to the Wigan 10k for Joseph’s Goal!!

3 days to the Wigan 10k for Joseph’s Goal!!
THIS Sunday, over 2,500 people will be running, walking or crawling around town in the inaugural Wigan 10k.
And nearly 100 of those will be running for Joseph’s Goal, to raise funds to find a cure for the rare genetic disorder, NKH.
Latics skipper Emmerson Boyce gave the local charity worldwide exposure when he carried little Joseph Kendrick on to the field for the FA Cup final.
And Lucy Cachia-Boyce will be among those running for Joseph’s Goal this weekend, with Boycey pledging to match every penny raised by his wife.

Running for Josephs’ Goal

Running for Josephs’ Goal
If you want to get back into shape – and help out Joseph’s Goal in the process – then time is running out!
The first ever Wigan 10k takes place on Sunday, September 8 and we’re aiming to enlist the help of 100 Latics fans to run the course raising £100 each towards Joseph’s Goal.
Or even more if you can!
We’ve already passed half of our target, with over 50 of you having signed up to make a difference.
And with less than a quarter of the 2,000 starting places remaining, you’ll have to move fast if you want to join Team Joseph – and become part of that amazing Wigan Athletic family once more.

The race has been organised to support Joining Jack, but runners can raise funds for any charity they like – showing football and rugby fans can work together to do amazing things.

Empty Seats ride (to Wembley) again

Empty Seats ride (to Wembley) again

If you’ve had your ears to the ground then you’ll have heard that The Empty Seats have been back in the studio, recording three new tracks to celebrate Latics’ progress through the FA Cup.  The first batch of The Empty Seats E.P. were sold at the pre-Semi Final event in aid of Joseph’s Goal down at the DW Stadium and will no doubt be appearing in outlets accross the town as we get nearer to the big day.  But there’s no need to wait.

Meet the manager in Wembley warm up!

ROBERTO Martinez will be guest of honour at the ultimate Wigan Athletic pre-Wembley party – raising money for Joseph’s Goal in the process.
Fourteen years after Latics met Millwall in the Auto Windscreens Shield final, the “Party like it’s 1999” night on Tuesday, April 9 will mark the two sides meeting in the FA Cup semi-final.
Martinez will take part in a question and answer session along with several other Latics VIPs, including Carl Bradshaw – the skipper from 1999 – and hot-shot Stuart Barlow.
In addition, the night will have a quiz, a raffle, a pie-and-pea supper as well as a set from top Wigan comedian Carl Lawrence.

Who mentioned Empty Seats?

Just a reminder that The Empty Seats are doing a Charity Christmas gig at The Honeysuckle pub in Poolstock tomorrow (Saturday 22nd December 2012) from 4pm. As the more observant of you may have noticed this is around about an hour or so after the Arsenal game has finished giving you just enough time to wander over from the DW Stadium and enjoy a bit of festive spirit.

Back with a bang!!

Back with a bang!!

Wigan Athletic tribute band The Empty Seats are back on the road with their lively brand of Latics tailored cover songs. From Ronnie Stam to Torquay Promotion Party to the anthemic We Live in Mudhuts and from what I hear plenty new material, the group are currently rehearsing and getting ready to take the stage once more.

Backing Joseph’s Goal

Backing Joseph’s Goal

Football fans, indeed Wigan Athletic fans get a bad press plenty of the time but as we all know Wigan Athletic fans are an amazing bunch of people. Over the last couple of years some quite frankly remarkable fund raising achievements have taken place by Wigan Athletic fans and indeed Wiganers in general and associates

Fellow Latics fans,

you may have heard about a very brave and beautiful little girl named Emma Hoolin, from Whitley in Wigan who is suffering from a very aggressive childhood cancer. Emma is only 4 years old and has a smile that lights up the room. She has been fighting this terrible disease for over 8 months now and has endured the harshest chemotherapy and radiotherapy imaginable. The NHS has offered her the best possible treatment available in this country but for her to stand the greatest chance of beating this terrible disease, she needs to have further immunotherapy treatment in America at a cost of £210,000.
