Things that make you go mmmm – Birmingham City away

Things that make you go mmmm – Birmingham City away

There’s not been that much chatter ahead of the trip to St. Andrews.  It’s partly due to Latics’ form, partly that it’s not the most inspiring fixture, partly because of events elsewhere, but I reckon, mostly because no-one really dare think how we might feel come tea time tonight.  Any way, here are the five things we’d be talking about in the pub before the game, if we were going anywhere near either.

Loungin’ – Not a Patch On Playlist #3

It’s nearly two weeks since the last time I forced my impeccable music taste on you, so it’s time for you to ignore me yet again and carry on listening to your Rage Against the Machine greatest hits (what that’s passé already, damn).  In keeping with the overwrought atmosphere around Laticsville at the moment I’ve gone for 18 tracks that together should ease the troubled brow.  So pull up a pew, make yourself a brew (or whatever) and kick off your shoes, let’s go loungin’.

What’s the lowest point of Latics season?  It’s not rocket science is it?  Blackpool or Notts County?  Nah, they were both in the cup.  Portsmouth or United away?  They were just bad days at the office.  Undoubtedly and unavoidably the point of no return for Roberto Martinez’s team is that trip to White Hart Lane, the one that showed that you can really be called inconsistent when your lows are this deep, the game that shouted for us to put that opening day victory at Aston Villa behind us and to get on with the battle instead.

So, not only did I miss the Everton game a week on Saturday, I also managed to get myself stuck in the house all night, with basically only my laptop to entertain me.  Now I know that there are plenty of you out there who could find plenty to distract them in that situation (and maybe get some exercise at the same time?) but for me a night in like that usually means two things, playing online poker badly and listening to music.

OK so we weren’t overly prophetic when we at  The Pie At Night  spoke of what will be for Delphic in 2010,  granted , many had been speaking for about a year or so. They were given “New Band of the Day” status by The Guardian back in October 2008 who had them as so close to New Order it was nearly “Oasis-do-the-Beatles karaoke”. Bit harsh really after a good few listens to the album , which made No.8 , I had it more as TheBeloved-do-the-TheKillers but then again I am a bit wierd.

No I haven’t either.  As I type, I can’t even remember the lad’s name properly, it calls to mind Portuguese managers, expensive wool or bright red cherries in 1970s cocktails, and it begins with M, ends in O and is exotic sounding.  Of course I’ll go away and check before I write the rest of the article, but for now I just wanted to say, that I haven’t heard of him before and frankly I don’t care (plus it gave me a catchy headline, so shhhh).
