Happy Joseph’s Goal Day

Author: No Comments Share:

I’m sure you don’t need reminding that it was five years ago today that little Wigan Athletic beat the mighty Manchester City with a late Ben Watson goal to win the FA Cup.

The lucky mascot that day was one Joseph Kendrick, who was celebrating his 9th birthday last Wednesday. Joseph is also the inspiration behind the Joseph’s Goal charity, which is the leading charity of (NKH) Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia. This is the condition which Joseph suffers from, and it is a genuine race against time to find a cure, as the oldest living child with NKH is only 12 years old.

Like many people reading, I was one of 100 people who walked to the away game at Fleetwood last month and the effort was absolutely outstanding, from those who walked, who supported us and who kindly donated their hard earned money.

The event has raised close to £35,000, which is a phenomenal sum of money and speaks volumes as to the generosity of Wiganers and those further afield.

But if we could ask for one last push on this, we would like to do it via our text facility. We are asking Latics fans, on the 5th anniversary of our FA Cup day to also make it Joseph’s Goal Day by making a small donation to our lucky mascot and sharing it on social media.

All you have to do is send via text JGWF18 to the following number 70070 with your donation.

So for example, if you wish to give £10, just send the following text to 70070

  • JGWF18 £10
  • JGWF18 £5 to give £5
  • JGWF18 £2 to give £2
  • JGWF18 £20 to give £20

And so on.

Needless to say, every little helps. There is a charity ball tonight and the Latics Legends game tomorrow, whether you can attend or not, please help it make a great weekend for the Kendrick family by giving what you can.
