It didn’t happen

Why not cheer yourself up after Saturday’s demoralising defeat by listening to the latest Pie at Night podcast?  In The Pie At Night podcast 11 we get to know the man behind the meme as we take a closer look at the handiwork of George @WeahsCousin.

We discuss how one lad from Wigan turned a mock Steve Evans quote into what has become a world wide web phenomenon. The man who conned James Corden, Gabby Logan and Jamie Vardy’s wife tells us which were his own favourite wind ups featuring such luminaries as Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, the Iceland national team and not forgetting the club from Gibraltar with 28 fans and a drug dealer playing up front, The Red Imps.We talk about our favourite internet wind ups from Vigo to Des Webster to “fake” Carlton Cole and we talk about the Wigan influence on twitter which goes way beyond the spheres of football and includes discussion of some slightly dubious material.

We discuss the worst and shortest jobs we’ve ever had, involving as expected, working in pork scratching factories and glass collecting in Chaplins. Getting sent for a long stand or tartan paint by prehistoric banter merchants and over friendly offers from the owners of the Mabs Cross.

We look at common and quite frankly pathetic mispronunciations of words, of which your correspondent here is patently and unwittingly guilty of before returning to football – yes football matters!

We throw in our nominations for the Emporium of Sh**e beginning with the letter G where Luke nominates yet another “FA Cup winner” (in inverted commas), while Al opts for another controversial choice, or maybe not, it depends whether fist pumping is more important than actually being able to play football.

Following which we close out with some Cardiff things including Simon Haworth doing the Ayatollah and Clarks pies. The musical interlude is brought to you by The Jam and we close out with a bit of the Coral.
