Mudhutter credit rating downgraded to ZZ-

Yes that’s right, sorry to tug on your heart strings after all our sellers pocketed those massive bonuses in the halcyon days of 2005/06 but we’ve gone from being on bonuses to being on the bones of our ars*s. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch I hear you say! Well maybe not, everyone involved with the Mudhutter gives up their time for free and our sellers will again be out in force on Saturday flogging the Mudhutter before the Latics v Spurs game. Unfortunately, a downpour of heavenly proportionate meant that for only the second time in ten or so years of selling at the DW/JJB, our fanzine sellers had to beat a hasty retreat to the warmth of the pub last weekend at around 11.30am .

The rain subsided and one or two of our sellers skulked back out at around 12.15ish but the upshot of all this is that we have 150 unsold fanzines and a print bill to pay. So sorry to tug on your heart strings a little but if you didn’t manage to get one and would like one, please take this opportunity to pick one up on Saturday or buy online.

Can we blame the Royal Wedding as well? Oh why not, everyone else seems to be doing. Anyway, here’s the details:

You can also buy it from the following stockists:

Mesnes Road News

Sparks Newsagent, Wallgate, Wigan

Brickmakers Arms, Woodhouse Lane, Wigan

Sams Bar, Frog Lane, Wigan

And if you don’t normally buy the Wigan Athletic fanzine, why not give it a go? At just £1.50 a copy it’s packed full of football writing. You can read more below….

Issue 33 of your loved and loathed in equal measure Mudhutter hits the streets this weekend and this is a customary note designed to further heighten your interest in said product.

We’ve kept the price at £1.50, well we’ve had to, there’s a RECESSION ON but somehow attempted to retain the quality and this first issue of the season contains all your favourite regular features from Les Bagg to Will Philkinson mixed in with savage attacks on Bolton celebrities and childhood memories of playing taplatch.

We throw some more half baked ideas and campaigns to get the crowds up, look at value for money in football and set the scene for the forthcoming season. And there’s probably some other stuff which I wouldn’t like to spoil the surprise for, in other words, I can’t remember what it is.

If you should happen to have a ‘prior engagement’ this Saturday, of which we’ll say no more *taps side of nose* then you’ll be pleased to here that we are continuing to stock in Waterstones, Sparks Newsagent opposite Wallgate station and the Brick (possibly)

And if you simply can’t be bothered leaving the house, you can also buy this issue online although our pushy sales director has also asked me to point out that it is much economical to take out a subscription so long as we somehow contrive to churn out five issues this season.

With final thanks to all those who contributed and a quick nudge to the sellers to be there at eleven bells, probably wearing your new trainees.

Cheers
