Wigan Athletic this evening, beat Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park 1-0 through an Alcaraz headed goal in the 87th minute.

The win & the 3 points meant that Wigan moved to 40 points with their 6th win in 8 games and also moved to Premier League safety.

The win also meant that Blackburn were relegated.

The final relegation place will be fought out next weekend between QPR & Bolton Wanderers.  With Wolves taking the 3rd relegation spot a few weeks ago.

The 40 points mean Wigan now have an 8th season in the Premier League to look forward too.
