Wigan Athletic officials have confirmed that Roberto Martinez will be taking his team to the Austrian Alps again this season, as part of the big build up to the 2012-13 Barclays Premier League season on August 19th when Latics will entertain European Champions Chelsea.

Latics are scheduled to play three training matches, one against a local Austrian team on 24th July, Bulgarian Premier League side Botev Plovdiv two days later and German side 1899 Hoffenheim on 28th July.

The games will be played in the Obersosterreich region of Austria, in the Linz district.

Speaking of his plans Roberto Martinez said,  “Pre-season is designed to gradually build up in intensity as we build fitness and our previous trips to Austria have always been a major success in achieving this. We are all looking forward to going back there.”

No other first team pre-season matches have so far been confirmed.
