Brazil the spiritual samba home of football are set to host the 9th  FIFA Confederations Cup  and it is basically a dry run for the main event that is the 2014 World Cup.

It all kicks-off with Brazil playing Japan Saturday 15th June with the final Sunday 30th June.

For Brazil it is a chance to play “competitive” matches as opposed to the numerous meaningless marketing games.

Spain are the biggest threat to them but don’t discount, Japan Italy or Uruguay and if you can recall the USA beat Spain 2-0 in the semis back in 2009 before narrowly losing 3-2 to Brazil.

Group A sees hosts Brazil playing the AFC champions Japan, CONCACAF champions Mexico and UEFA Euro runners-up Italy.
