Day 8 ……..Friday 1st August 2014

Author: No Comments Share:

Match day, after breakfast at the hotel we went for another walk around the festival calling in at a bar for some food and drink. We hen visited Paderborn Cathedral, a beautiful 13th century Roman Catholic Church and is the burial place of St Liborius the patron saint of a “good death”.

We then walked to the Bentelar stadium arriving early so watched the players and staff arriving taking photos with them and then entering  the ground amongst tight security we met up with the other Wiganners who had made the trip.

The game started with Wigan playing bright attacking football, looking much sharper that the Dusseldorf game and the Latics deservedly took the lead when a close range effort from Perch following a free kick by Tavernier found the back of the net.

Latics continued to dominate for the rest of the game although man of the match arson had to be alert near the end of the game to thwart Paderborn.

After the deserved one nil victory we made our way back to the festival which was chockablock and stayed until the end , then went back to the hotel for a few drinks and bed.
