Jack Green – the run

Thanks for taking the time to read thie following article …..

I’m Jack Green, a 19 year old student at Manchester University, my sister Emily Green, is a 20 year old student at Cardiff Metropolitan. During December last year we both lost someone very precious. Our best friend/hero/Dad. My Dad truely was a great guy.

Our Dad started from humble beginings but wouldn’t let this keep him there. During his studies he put in effort beyond and above anything we’ve ever seen or heard of to this day. Despite being expelled from school during the time of his A Levels, he still managed good grades in all of them, including the two he taught himself! He used to cycle between Nantwich and Crewe to the library, and if it wasn’t for his little red bike we wouldn’t live the life we live. This enabled him to become a headteacher where he was the only one in the area that allowed gyspy students to study there, he always rightfully believed they deserved an education just like every other child. After a heart attack he went on to become the chief examiner of Citizenship and General Studies where he was admired for his expertise. Outside of his career, he loved football, music, his family, his partner Glynis and his cat Tiger. He supported the underdog in Wigan Athletic and Crewe Alexandra. Jack still holds his season ticket at Wigan and will continue to do so for as long as he can.

He was a great Dad, friend, colleague, but more than anything, a great person. He suffered from depression his whole life, but he didn’t let it hold him back as best he could. This winter it got too much for him, and it has broken our hearts. We miss him every day and just want to do something positive and not let our Dad’s death mean nothing. I hope we can prevent one person suffering like he did, and we can do this with your help. No matter how small your donation is, it means so much to us that we have this opportunity to bring good out of this situation which has left us lost. Please help us raise money for Mind, the mental health charity. Depression is a silent killer, being silent isn’t being strong.
