Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed that Liverpool have made Roberto Martinez an offer with regards to the managerial vacancy at the Anfield club. Speaking to Sky Sports Whelan said,
“Roberto had a very constructive meeting. They made an offer and he has agreed to consider it”.
The meeting was held in Miami earlier this week and the outcome was that the job is Roberto’s, if he fancies it. However the matter may not be resolved just yet. Martinez will insist on running ALL the football matters of the club. At Wigan Athletic he is in charge of all football matters from the Under 16’s upwards, and this is the way he likes to work.
This is not the way things have been done at Anfield since Fenway Sports Group took control of the club. He is expected to make his decision on Wednesday at the very latest.
