Liverpool to talk with the Master’s apprentice?

There are reports circulating in and around Anfield Road, that the club owners are ready for talks with Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers.

It is believed that Rodgers has cut short a trip New York City to jet back to the Liberty Stadium today to tell his chairman, Huw Jenkins, that he wishes to talk to Fenway Sports Group about the managerial vacancy at Liverpool.

Rodgers of course is the former Watford and Reading manager, who has continued the Roberto Martinez style of play in the valleys after being appointed Swansea City manager in July 2010 following the decision of Paulo Sousa to take over at Leicester City.  Sousa had also followed the Martinez master plan, but Rodgers has been the most successful manager to date to implement it at the Liberty Stadium.

With Wigan Athletic chairman Whelan demanding an answer from Martinez with regards to his future in a couple of days time, the plot has certainly thickened over the Liverpool manager vacancy following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish, whose last game of football resulted in his team being beaten by JLS and Take That!

It appears that having failed to get the master, FSG are prepared to opt for the apprentice!
