It is that time of the year again and who will you vote for in the Wigan Athletic Player of the Season awards ?

A high goal scoring forward is usually the frontrunner in polls like these but with nobody hitting the back of our opponents  goal  on a regular basis  no one really spring to mind from the forwards union.

Until his injury I would have gone for Leon Barnett, he marshalled an ever changing back-line with assurance and made numerous important tackles and headers to keep the ball out of the onion bag.

Then perhaps Ali, wondrous saves and boundless enthusiasm for the cause these coupled with a  sure fire hit with the DW faithful certainly makes him a front runner for the trophy.

However in my humble opinion there is only one winner of this prestigious award and that is Captain fantastic Latics Mr Dependable (again) Emmerson Boyce.

Game after game this stalwart is either in the back three covering and organising the defence and the midfield or deifying his age to hare up & down the touchline as a wingback.

A true professional on the field of play and a gentlemen off the pitch, the guy is and always will be a Latics legend and out of the current squad is the one and only true candidate.
