Wigan Athletic’s manager Roberto Martinez has been given permission by Dave Whealan to speak to Randy Lerner in regards to the vacant Aston Villa manager’s role.  The role made vacant when Gerard Houllier left through health reasons.  

As soon as we hear anything further here @ TNS, we’ll update the site to reflect.

Additional with this news we understand that the negotiations with Al-Habsi will no doubt be put on hold until Roberto concludes his future be it with Aston Villa or Wigan?

Dave Whelan has expressed his desire to extend Roberto’s contract if he stays with Wigan.
