It’s never dull is it (c) Understatement of the century that particular Wigan Athletic phrase. Another twenty four hours, another episode of upheaval, another period of instability. We should be used to them by now, but each time this happens the more damaging the feeling among the fanbase. So let’s recap […]
The release of last week’s financial accounts made for sobering reading for all Wigan Athletic supporters. Never again can this club be allowed to reach the state it did and never again can we allow those that don’t have Wigan Athletic’s best interests at heart to use the club in the way it had been […]
Out of two cups in a week, one expected. One less so. There’s no dressing up Tuesday night’s defeat to Doncaster – it wasn’t good enough and I’ve no doubt Shaun Maloney will have told the players exactly that and if not Maloney then Graham Barrow certainly will have. We had a plum draw in […]
That’s more like it. We said, we needed a reaction after this international break and what a reaction we’ve seen. Two wins, four goals scored, zero conceded and a huge step forward after such a damaging last few weeks. Both wins were fantastic in their own way, but distinctly different performances. Against Gary Caldwell’s Exeter […]
‘He’s lost the dressing room and the supporters, it’s time to go’, ‘time to get rid, it’s not working’. Really? Is this how we’re going to do this? Has the town of Wigan had a collective case of amnesia? Was the opening month of the season so good that it’s blinded us to the very […]
There was a time around about May where it felt like writing a season preview may be one for the memory bank. I don’t think it’s dramatic to state that when we left the Dave Whelan Stadium following the Rotherham game many of us wondered whether we would ever be back. It seems churlish to […]
It’s often darkest before the dawn. And my word they have been dark days in Wigan over recent weeks. It’s been said why haven’t Amazon or Netflix decided to film a Sunderland or Wrexham type documentary about us. The reason why is that it would simply be seen as too unrealistic to ever be taken […]
Over the last few weeks, and certainly the last few days my faith has been shook. The seismic events that have been a slow burn since last autumn are seemingly coming to a head. What we know is that Phoenix 21 are on their way out. Already gone are Mal Brannigan, Oliver Gottman and Tom […]
We’re all aware of the unacceptable events at Latics over the last week. Against a backdrop of unpaid wages and rumours about the future of the club, the board seem to have bunkered in and left a communications vacuum that’s allowed speculation to run rife. We have received the following statement from the Wigan Athletic […]
