Two out, one stays and the prodigal to return?

Josip Skoko and Emerson Thome left the club today, and it is rumoured that Damian Francis could have been close behind them. Meanwhile defeat for Senegal means that Henri Camera could be back in the country by Friday.

Skoko has popped off to Stoke in a move surely designed to boost his chances of making the Australia world cup squad. The midfielder has had his chances limited at Latics and the signings of Davis Thompson and Reto Zeigler will have pushed him further down the pecking order. He’ll be hoping that the drop down will present him with the first team football that he needs if he’s going to be on a plane to Germany this summer.

More interestingly, more from the potteries is that a loan deal for Damian Francis was also on the cards, the player preferring to take his chance of making Latics’ cup final squad.

Thome’s departure is a strange one, the Brasillian has always been a fringe player but with a limited squad you’d think that Jewell would keep the numbers up (presumably there’s a recall clause in Skoko’s deal). Part of me is tempted to try to link this to the Jimmy Bullard video doing the rounds at the minute, but that would be me purely making mischief.

Elsewhere, Senegal’s defeat at the hands of hosts Egypt means that Camera’s last game will be Thursday afternoon leaving the possibility open that he could be back in time for the visit of Liverpool. Wheteher he’ll be prepared enough to start is another matter, but with options limited it’s arisk Jewell might need to take.
