We’re Walking4Joseph, are you?

It’s been a while but we are back! The fixtures haven’t fallen too kindly for us this year but we have a plan. A plan to do a walk with a twist. Instead of walking to an away game, this year we are intending to walk to a HOME game. But we will be walking from our opponent’s stadium, all the way back to Wigan.

To this end, the fixture that we have chosen is the home game versus Morecambe on Saturday 19th March 2022. Here are the details so far:

We will set off very early (6.30-7ish) via coach from Wigan on Friday 18th March and travel to Morecambe FC’s Mazuma Stadium.

Upon arrival, we will do a brief photo shoot outside the stadium and then start putting one foot in front of the other.

This Friday will be a long day, and, at over 29 miles, this will be the furthest distance that we have ever walked in a single day.

On the plus side, it will definitely be flatter than Halifax!

There will be regular refreshments breaks before we arrive in Preston and check in to our hotel for an evening meal and overnight stay

On the next day, we will again be up and out early and walk the remaining 17 miles to the DW Stadium, aiming to arrive between 1pm and 2pm ahead of kick off.

If you’ve been with us before, then you know what this entails: hard work, sore legs, long painful days, and badgering people for money.

But you will also know that there is great fun, spirit and camaraderie every step of the way in what is always a brilliant experience and the chance to be part of something truly brilliant which raises valuable funds for a charity very close to Latics’ fans’ hearts.

Previous walks have raised sums in excess of £30,000 and just this week, a cheque for £30,000 has been sent to Dr Nick Greene at UCL to carry out further research to find a cure for NKH. We ARE making a difference!!

So, if you fancy taking part, all we ask for now is that you send us an email to walk4joseph@gmail.com with your name and details of anyone who is coming with you and we will be in touch with more details soon

Cheers
