Famously and deservedly against Manchester City Wigan Athletic won the FA. Cup at Wembley and a few short days later were heartbreakingly relegated from the “greatest league in the world” ©
The Europa League is rearing it’s cosmopolitan head with Thursday 19th September the date for another history making day of our club.
Would the supporters at The DW Stadium be happy with another Cup success and another relegation I wonder?
I doubt it, the bare minimum is a Championship push for the play-offs if not automatic promotion to the greed league, the Europa Cup journey should be a joyous celebration of football, a culmination of glad tidings of all that has gone on since 1978 and before.
It’s a long, long way from the Cheshire League to Chechnya (if that’s where we end on our adventure) and we should enjoy the experience to the full no matter what the results are.
As me grannie use to say “we have bigger fish to fry”
