FREE PIES !

Now that I’ve got your attention and whilst the international break is upon us, I just thought I’d ahem, take advantage of my position as a TNS writer to let you know about one of my other writing ventures.

You see, I’ve got a new book out in a couple of weeks and here at TNS we’re all a bit excited about it. And what have you got to have before you bring a book out? That’s right! A launch party!

If you can’t make the launch but want to buy a copy of the book hot off the presses you can do here www.lifeofpies.co.uk/buy for just £9.99 plus P&P

Life of Pies book launch Friday Oct 24th @ The Raven Hotel

Of course, we all know that the most important thing about a book is the launch party so I’m pleased to announce that I’ve booked the Raven to host the official birth of my third book “Life of Pies”.

It’s a pub which has happy memories for me. For a while after leaving school, I worked as a painter and decorator for a mate – well mainly a painter/general dogsbody if truth be known. Essentially I spent most of my days running to the shop/bookies/chippy for my mate and his brother as I was rarely entrusted with the important job of painting other people’s walls merely spending my days chauffeuring the more proficient decorators to the pub.

The manual workers pub lunch is an increasingly endangered species (yeah I know, what would an office dweeb like me know about it!) However, in my formative years we used to regularly nip for a couple of pints and a pub lunch at The Raven. Pie, chips and gravy for £1.30. Lovely stuff.

I can’t promise that at the launch but there will be plenty of free pies. Well it’d be daft not to really……

The Raven is slap bang in the centre of Wigan and has been re-opened and restored to its former glories by Wigan pub boss Tony Callaghan. This former Walkers pub now possesses a fine range of real ales and the back room where I used to order my pie and chips has been redecorated to a high standard (i.e it wasn’t done by me!).

So with the narrative over please take this as your cordial invitation to come along and celebrate my three years of hard toil with a drink or two.

The pies have been ordered (procured from one of the highest scoring bakers in the book obviously) and there will be music and a social gathering of pie lovers from Wigan and further afield.

You can pop along for an hour or you can stay the whole evening. There’s no admission price and you’ll nab yourself a free pie or two if you’re quick enough.

There will be copies of the book available to buy on the night if you should so wish for just £9.99 signed by my good self. But that’s not the most important thing, we just like a party in Wigan.

So please put this date in your diary and come along if you can make it.
