A Summer in Wigan & Messi Bookcases

Well it has been some time!

For me it’s been over 12 months since I’ve been in the TNS Offices here in Wigan, in fact my last work was a Barnsley Match article, oh how we lived!

There are some new faces at new desks that we’ve been able to fit in to the office.  The usual suspects are here too, still coming & going!  I have noticed a Messi, oh dear Messy Bookcase in the corner, but we’ll get back to that & them later.

I’ve been able to dust down the desk, add to the Martian model, a porcelain London Bus after more than 12 months in the ‘Smoke’.  & ready for a new season for Wigan in the Championship (2nd Division), it may be a short stay as I’m off to New York in October, but let’s see what we can Blog in the mean time?

So last time Wigan played anything competitive was May, it was the 12th it was raining & had we been able to hang on to Perch’s early goal, could we have beat Derby in the final with a QPR style Smash & Grab?

Who knows, but hey we’ve another year & come May 2015, the bus & Martian may have a Statue of Liberty for company?  & Wigan may be in the Premier League, they could also be in League 1, but let’s not get too Old Wolf.

The summer if it was anything like mine, I spent most of my time shouting ‘Fix’ at the Telly, as I watched Brazil play with 12 men against some inferior team as per BBC/ITV pundits.  But alas the best team won, justice prevailed, 7-1 was a cracking score, Blatter slimed his way & Germany made it 4 stars on their chest and England lasted 6 days and yes we are even shitter than 2010.

So to Wigan’s new season, we’ve picked up earlier this week Emyr Huws, from Man City on a 6 month loan, yes we can work out how we pronounce Emyr if he’s running down the wing @ the DW in August (may check with a few Birmingham fans I know).  We’ve also seen new faces in Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, Andrew Taylor, Martyn Taylor-Waghorn, sorry only joking, well Taylor is a good surname!  So Martyn Waghorn, Oriol Riera, James Tavernier & Don Cowie to name but a few.  We’ve also seen Jordi Gomez go to Sunderland on a free, which is same amount they got for Lee Cattermole when the fans thought he’d go for £10 Million.

So we have in 16 days the first Championship match, as yes we aren’t playing the Charity Shield Final this year, damn that Arsenal defender in the 82nd minute!  First up is Reading, I’ve got a feeling it’s the only fixture in English Football that’s been played in all 4 tiers, but someone can prove me wrong.

No doubt someone in the office will raise their head and have a stab at a pre match article, my bet is on Steve.

So here is to Wigan’s Championship Season 2014/15, what did they used to say #Believe.
