Wigan Athletic’s England Under 20’s goalkeeper Lee Nicholls has signed for Accrington Stanley in a loan deal until the end of the season. Speaking about his move to the League Two outfit, who are managed by former Latic Paul Cook, Lee said,
“I’ve had some good experiences but now I feel like the next step in my career is first team football and hopefully I can get it at Accrington.”
Liverpool-born Nicholls arrived at the club as a 16 year-old in 2009 and has continued to show immense promise for the Development Squad. He caught the eye of England Under 20?s coach Brian Eastick, who selected him for his squad at the Under 20?s World Cup in Colombia last summer, alongside his Latics team mate Callum McManaman.
Lee had his first real taste of action last week when Latics beat the National team of Oman at the Seeb Stadium, despite three previous loan spells at Hartlepool United, Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield Wednesday.
All at TNS wish him well with Stanley.
