Austrian Journal Part 3

Another hot and sunny day in Austria changed as we drove to Bad Wimsbach and ran into a spectacular thunderstorm with lightening sparking over the mountains in the distance. Thankfully the storm passed by and we once again were able to watch the game in lovely sunshine

Hoffenheim have had a couple of successful seasons in Germany and with Austria and Germany near neighbours we were totally out numbered by their fans.

Latics rang the changes again from the last game with Mike Pollitt coming in as keeper and Boselli starting up front it what was again the fluid 3-4-3 formation that produced some great results last season. The second half again saw loads of changes which damages the momentum of the game but gives all the players a chance to develop their match fitness which is what the games are for.

The Austrian’s once again made us feel very welcome and its a welcome change to be able to drink beer whilst watching the game.

The match itself finished one all with Boselli making it three goals in three games and Hoffenheim gave us a really stern test and its easy to see why they have been so successful in the Bundesliga over the last couple of years. Mike Pollitt was man of the match today and overall Boselli has been the best player over the three games.

The week has been very enjoyable, the Austrians could not have been more friendly and the Wigan players and officials have made us welcome. The country is beautiful and the weather has been excellent. The only grip is the road signs and that I have to be back at work on Monday. More photos to follow.
