Following on from an earlier TNS article http://thisnorthernsoul.co.uk/hereford-united-1978-2014/ Hereford United supporters staged a mock funeral march in a bid to sway the suits in the council chambers to block any transfer of the existing leases on the ground to the club’s new owner.
Former owner David Keyte sold the club for £2 to Tommy Agombar after the club failed to pay ll it’s bills, he took control of the club on 3 June and has denied allegations he intends to sell the land to developers.
The council, which owns the Edgar Street ground, is considering Mr Agombar’s request to lease two of its stands.
“There have been suggestion of houses and a hotel there” said Martin Watson, from the Hereford United Supporters Trust.
Protestor, Steve Alexander, said: “I don’t see the club has any future while they [the current owners] are in charge of it.
The only realistic outcome for the club is that the business will be liquidated at some point.
“One would hope that people tending for the leases may be able to get a head start and maybe revive the club from scratch if they have to.”
Over 7000 folk have signed the petition including my good-self, a few years ago this could have happened to Latics !
