I suppose the good run had to come to an end at some point, shame it was down to a horrific first-half showing. I’m not ready to throw these young lads under a bus though, quite yet. Coming in to Saturday’s game we suffered one loss in fourteen matches in all competitions. That’s an amazing […]
One defeat in twelve, nine of those wins – twenty three goals scored all whilst a number of our automatic first teamers are out injured. No one can underestimate the positive effect that Shaun Maloney has had on this football club, from the flames of last season’s nonsense to overturning the minus eight in a […]
If you win your home games and pick up points away you won’t be far off, and that’s exactly what Shaun Maloney’s side are doing right now. There’s a consistency to our approach now that wasn’t there earlier in the season. Naturally for a side thrown together at haste with academy graduates, free transfers and […]
If you would have said to someone ahead of Derby away at the start of August that we would be sitting on 17 points at the start of November they would have snapped your hand off. When you consider without the points deduction that we would be sat in 7th place they would be even […]
No one does coming back down to earth like Wigan Athletic, a simple narrow defeat? No not for us for we are Wigan Athletic and we can’t do normal. We either have to be the best in the world or the worst in the world (in the eyes of some of our support at least) […]
That’s more like it. We said, we needed a reaction after this international break and what a reaction we’ve seen. Two wins, four goals scored, zero conceded and a huge step forward after such a damaging last few weeks. Both wins were fantastic in their own way, but distinctly different performances. Against Gary Caldwell’s Exeter […]
‘He’s lost the dressing room and the supporters, it’s time to go’, ‘time to get rid, it’s not working’. Really? Is this how we’re going to do this? Has the town of Wigan had a collective case of amnesia? Was the opening month of the season so good that it’s blinded us to the very […]
So much for that decent week I was speaking of last week eh? Latics came crashing back to earth with a bump on Saturday after a comprehensive defeat at Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers. You know it was a bad day when the most interesting aspect of the afternoon was learning that Joey Barton is Tony […]
It’s not been a bad week has it? Two wins one of those getting us back on track in the league and another a comprehensive thrashing in the Pizza Cup. Let’s take a look at Cambridge first up, a win that was a bit closer than it needed to have been. Cambridge are a decent […]
When your luck’s against you, your luck’s against you. It feels like it’s been a long time since that last minute kick in the teeth at Bloomfield Road. After having an excellent record, when playing at Blackpool for so long it feels like they’ve got a hold on us these days. It was another disappointing […]
