Critical two week blog day 9

8.45am

Wake up this morning, tired plus aching after approx ten hours driving. Apparently Wigan was buzzing last night. I wonder how many kids will be christened Ben when they are born in 9 months time as a direct result of last night’s celebrations

9.45am

Go to Church, a couple of other Latics fans have made it, their coaches only got in at 3ish so they look well wasted. Vicar tells me he was approached in Wigan at 7.45 by a reporter from Five Live who told him she had been looking for a WAFC supporter to interview since 7.

Given the partying that went on last night, what were the odds on a Latics fan being up at that time or even if there was one, would they be making any sense from a night on the ale.

11.30am

Get home and respond to congratulatory texts including Evertonians, Man Utd and one City. Text another City fan asking him what he rang me for on Friday ( it was to commiserate with them beating us in the final) A bit of premature celebration I think.

12pm

Start match report, watch highlights of game to make sure I get things right, get a lump in my throat when Watson scores, again and again and again. Amazing performance yesterday and something that I will cherish forever.

1pm

Get a text from my hard rocking amigo Nige vocalist with rock band Marseille. Nige is a big Horwich fan and he tells me that they were selling MCFC F.A.Cup winning flags and tee shirts on Stockport market yesterday. He also tells me that the train back to Bolton erupted when someone  announced that Wigan had won even the Boltonians.

4.50pm

Its my birthday and I will cry if I want to, well it is my birthday and no i’m not crying but the results today mean we need two wins in two games and even then it might not be enough. A draw against Champions league chasing Arsenal would require a 12 goal swing to stay up. A loss means its game over.

Would think we are down but this group of players never ceases to amaze me.

6pm

Persuade Mrs W that I will have to subscribe to BT.Sports channels on the grounds that they will be carrying the europa league ( omitting to mention the baseball is on there). Sky looks like it has a major challenger at last, maybe they will up the ante re competitive pricing.

Mood………………..cunning    stress levels    20%

8pm

Birthday curry from Sunrise, best Indian take away for miles around. Strayed away from my usual pathia and went for a Shashlick bhuna and it was excellent. Guys that run the place from Oldham but always take note of Latics scores and are genuinely pleased that we have won. A few other Latics fans in there all with massive smiles on their faces.

Mood……………………………content     stress levels 10%

10pm

Chat with Sawdoctor and we both reckon winning at Arsenal is a massive task but then we thought that on Saturday and look what happened then? Thoughts move onto the European tour, we are both determined to go although I may baulk at visiting some Eastern European countries. Knowing our luck it will be Bangor City, ah well won’t need my passport.

Mood…………………………………….. adventurous   stress levels 10%
