Diame set for Africa Cup of Nations debut

Wigan Athletic midfielder Mohamed Diame is set to play for Senegal in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament.  Diame, who has already represented his country on five occasions will hopefully play his first game for Senegal in Equatorial Guinea, Bata against Zambia on 21st January 2012.

The length of his absence from first team duties at Latics obviously depends on how far Senegal progress in the competition.  The final of the competition is scheduled for 12th February 2012.

Should Senegal fail to make it through their Group A stage, their final game in the tournament would have been played on 29th January 2012.

Should they make the quarter finals Senegal will be playing as group A winners or runners up on 4th February 2012

The semi finals are scheduled for the 8th February and the third/fourth place play off takes place the day before the final.

All at TNS hope that Momo has a good competition and arrives home with a winners medal.  Hopefully he will not go missing after the tournament like another former Latics player, Henri Camara, did much to Paul Jewell’s annoyance in 2006!
