Wigan Athletic have today confirmed the signing of former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Dave Jones.  He arives at the DW Stadium on a free transfer after refusing a contract with the Midlands outfit in June.

David started his career with Manchester United in July 2003 but he failed to play a League game for the Red Devils although he did play in both domestic cup competitions for them.  During his time at Old Trafford he was loaned to three clubs, Preston North End NEC Nijmagen and Derby County.  The Rams paid United £1,000,000 for his services in January 2007 and it was from Price Park that he signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers on a free transfer a year later.

He made 58+8 League appearances at Molyneux where he also had a one day loan spell at Oldham Athletic!

He refused to sign a new contract for Mick McCarthy in the summer and he originally arrived at Christopher Park in a bid to keep up his match fitness, but impressive displays in the pre season friendlies has persuaded manager Roberto Martinez to offer him a top flight lifeline.
