Wigan Athletic have confirmed that Argentina striker Mauro Boselli has sealed a loan move back to his former club Estudiantes in Argentina. The 26 year-old will now spend next season at Estudiantes after the two clubs agreed a year-long loan deal last week.
Boselli scored in Latics’ 2-1 victory against Ostersunds in Sweden at the beginning of July, but Roberto Martinez feels that his needs will be better suited by a move back to his homeland. He said:
“Mauro needs to regain his confidence and after what will hopefully be a successful season with his former club, we will reassess the situation this time next year. We will be keeping close tabs on his progress and wish him every success for the new season.”
Boselli played eight times in the Premier League last season, scoring his only competitive goal for the club in the Carling Cup victory against Swansea City, before being loaned to Genoa for the second part of the season.
