Non League Day

A few of the “northern soul” team venture to other grounds especially on the rising star that is non-league day.

As the FSF so eloquently puts it …..

NLD is a celebration of football outside of the 92 league sides and gives fans of those clubs the opportunity to experience football at a level they might not be familiar with. NLD helps promote hundreds of clubs across the country, many of which are volunteer run and valuable community assets.

NLD is timed to coincide with an international break when many fans are at a loose end. The multi-cultural mix of English football means that no games in the Premier League or Championship will take place that weekend and fans of clubs in the top-two tiers can give their full support to NLD without missing their own team’s game.

The event is now in its third season and was the brainchild of QPR and Harrow Borough fan James Doe. As well as receiving the full support of the FSF and Supporters Direct NLD also has received national media coverage from the likes of the BBC, Guardian, Sky Sports, and Talksport.

“With England playing on Friday 12th October [against San Marino in a World Cup 2014 qualifier] and the Premier League and Championship taking a week off, I urge all fans of the big clubs to get out and watch their local non-league teams on Saturday 13th October!” says James.

“Given the current financial climate, clubs outside the Football League need all the support they can get, so your presence at a game will be genuinely appreciated. With tickets and refreshments at a fraction of the cost, what’s stopping you?”
