notapatchon Plays Away – Yes I’m Completely Guessing

Author: No Comments Share:

I’m not usually in the business of making public predictions, but then again I’ve never been asked before.  This season Square Football have asked your humble correspondent to take place in their prediction competition so, breaking with tradition, I’ve said yes.  It should be a bit of fun, and if nothing else it’ll give me something to witter on about when the writer’s block kicks in.

First up was the season’s winners and losers, who’s going to win the league and cups etc.  This is what I came up with and some incoherent reasons as to why.

Premier League – Man United
My gut reaction is that, simply, Chelsea are weaker this season, United aren’t and it was too close to call last year.

Top four – Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal
The race will be between United and Chelsea, I think that the final two places will come down to City, Arsenal and Liverpool.  Spurs will probably find it too much competing on domestic and European fronts but they’ll still be around.  Liverpool lose out because I can’t see Hodgson having them hit the ground running.

Relegation – Blackpool, Wolves, Sunderland
Blackpool I can’t see having the talent or stamina for the division, I’ve got Wolves down for second season syndrome and Sunderland, well, I can dream can’t I?

FA Cup – Spurs
The year ends in one, I always tip spurs for the FA cup when the year ends in one.

Carling Cup – Arsenal
They have to win something soon don’t they?

Championship – Middlesbrough
Strachen seems to be building the perfect too good for the Championship, not quite good enough for the Premier League side.  I’m tipping them over Forest mainly because I like the little Scot.  I’d rather this prediction fail because Latics sign David Weater at the last minute though.

SPL – Celtic
It’s their turn isn’t it?

Champions League – Inter
What?  Without Mourinho?  That’s the basis of my prediction, I reckon that they will want to prove that it wasn’t just him that won it last time around.  Plus, Rafa isn’t as dumb as some people would have you believe.

Europa League – Liverpool
A consolation for missing out on the Champions League again.

Yeah, I know it’s a load of ill informed nonsense.  I probably won’t be checking back to see how well I did at the end of the season either.

For what it’s worth, these were my first weekend premier league predictions.
