Back in 1978 Ian Gillibrand (without the badge) led latics onto the Edgar Street pitch for our very first game in the Football League in a very similar shirt.

The official club statement about it all reads as follows …..

Wigan Athletic are delighted to announce that supporters will be able to pre-order their brand new 2013-14 Home kit from Thursday June 6. 

The shirts, manufactured exclusively for Wigan Athletic by the club’s technical partner MIFIT, are a return to the thin blue and white stripes as worn by the team in the early years of the Football League era in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Supporters can pre-order their kit online online at wiganathletic.com/shop or from the DW Sports Latics Club Shop in the Grand Arcade, Wigan Town Centre.

Pre-orders in store will require a £5 deposit with the balance being paid upon collection on launch date of July 11.  Adult short sleeve shirts will retail at £39.99 and the junior short sleeve shirts will be £29.99
