Quick Arsenal vs Wigan Athletic Preview

Well what can I say as I look forward, yes look forward to Monday night football.

You’ll probably know why Wigan fans are looking forward to the match!  It’s because we played rather well in the last match against Manchester United.

So to the match in London, we have some History……like Manchester United, we’ve played Arsenal 13 times in the Premier League.  Won just the once….N’Zogbia 3-2, drawn 2 and lost 10.  Last match was early in December at the DW & a 4-0 thumping.

We’ve played Arsenal another 4 times in the Carling Cup, last match was November 2010, a 2-0 win to Arsenal.  But you know I’ll mention another Carling Cup tie at a then Highbury.  The 24th January 2006, Wigan were 2-1 down on aggregate deep in extra time,  Graham Kavanagh hoofed it, Jason Roberts picked it up, the rest is history including Paul Jewell’s Leather Coat.

Referee for the match Monday night is Andre Marriner, you know it’s a dodgy subject the official for Wigan, it’s a common theme.

Mr Marriner has previous with us, Wigan vs Blackburn earlier this season, a Ghost Corner and 23 minutes of extra time until Blackburn could get a penalty, Robinson going down like that Marine in Platoon.

Penalty converted 3-3 & another 2 points dropped by Wigan against the 12 men of the opposition.

Looking at the teams, Wigan still have Hugo out with his dodgy knee, believe Mr Pollitt maybe also be carrying an injury, I’m assuming it’s from training, reserve team football or riding on a kids scooter, cough cough for Manchester City there.

As for Arsenal they have a few who are stacked up on the Physio’s treatment table.  Apologies for any spellings here, Coquelin, Diaby, Mertesacker, Wilshere, Frimpong & Koscienlny all are currently out.  I assume Wenger has enough players, just if Wigan had 6 players out we’d be in trouble!

Form, Arsenal have won their last 2, 5 in the last 6, a defeat to QPR .  Wigan, well you know our form is good playing 11 players, we’ve won 3 of the last 4 Stoke, Liverpool & Manchester United, we’ve picked up 11 points from the last 6.

Anyway, as I’ve said looking forward to the game, I do hope like the Manchester United game (have I mentioned that) Wigan play well & Marriner keeps all 22 on the field.  I can see 0-0 myself, though using my head if that Van Pierse bloke plays, well let’s just hope it’s 1-0.

As I’m typing this out it’s a little noisey here at TNS HQ as we’re having the windows fitted by 2 blokes from D&S Profiles.  They’re doing an excellent job & Dave thinks we could get a point with 1-1, Steve is a little more practical he’s going for 2-1 to Arsenal.

Well let’s see who’s right me or the Window fitters?

Come on Wigan!
