Seven Wigan Athletic players will have to put their summer rest plans on hold for the time being.
Nigeria are in World Cup qualification and Africa Cup of Nations action and have called up Victor Mioses to the squad that will be taking on Namibia and Malawi in World Cup qualifying games and Rwanda as part of their Africa Cup of Nations plans.
Antolin Alcaraz who was rested for the last game of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers will be fresh for Paraguay’s clash against Bolivia in a World Cup qualifier.
Gary Caldwell, Shaun Maloney and James McArthur will also be in the Scotland squad that prepares for a friednly fixture against the USA on May 26th. Mohamed Diame will also be hoping to take part in Senegal’s friendly game against Egypt two days earlier.
Rob Kiernan, who was signed as ‘one for the future’ in the summer from Watford has also been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 21’s squad for a friendly against Denmark and a European qualifier against Italy.
