Sunderland or Sevilla for Rodders?

Martinez  resigned to losing Rodallega

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez is reportedly bracing himself for a bid from Sevilla for Colombia striker Hugo Rodallega. There are also a lot of Premier League clubs hoping to entice him to stay in England, not least that collector of Latics players Steve Bruce at Sunderland who sees Hugo as the ideal replacement for Darren Bent.

It is unclear what any transfer fee would be involved in any proposed deal but with an impressive 38 caps and eight goals scored during his international career, and bearing in mind he is Wigan Athletic’s all time leading scorer, it is unlikely he will be leaving the DW Stadium on the cheap.

It was Steve Bruce who originally signed Hugo from Necaxa in a four and a half million pounds deal in January 2009, but having proved himself at Premier League level Latics should realistically be looking to at least double their initial outlay on Rodallega.

Everton and Birmingham City are also believed to be monitoring the surrent situation.
