It’s never dull is it (c) Understatement of the century that particular Wigan Athletic phrase. Another twenty four hours, another episode of upheaval, another period of instability. We should be used to them by now, but each time this happens the more damaging the feeling among the fanbase. So let’s recap […]
“The more things change, the more they stay the same” So the post Lowe era began with less of a bang and more of a whimper – that’s unfair really, there was definite improvements but sadly not enough for a result on the night. Latics started off so brightly in contrast to the last few […]
Two months too late but finally the decision that should have been made has been made. Embarrassing that it took a 6-1 mauling to do it. Rather than any sort of recognition of the malaise we’ve found ourselves in for the majority of this season. A club legend last season who hadn’t seen us in […]
We or rather the collective we, IE me – said that last week something had to change. Well we’ve now reached the point where that change required is immediate. Wigan Athletic need a change of management with urgency or for the first time in over thirty years Wigan Athletic could find themselves in the bottom […]
It has to change, somehow something’s got to change. We thought that change or rather that progression had finally come against Preston, but the more Saturday went on and the more disgraceful the performance it felt like we’d left everything on the pitch at Deepdale. Not because it was Wigan Athletic and it was the […]
Searching for consistency. I think that fairly describes the last seven days. At home we seem to have cracked it, two great home performances in the league have led to six goals and six points. Away from home? Still a work in progress clearly. That search for consistency has been hampered by an endless list […]
Not been a great week has it? Wigan Athletic the only side without a new manager bounce. Following the disappointing defeat to them men, we followed it up with the dullest 90 minutes of football I’ve ever witnessed in the East London sunshine. We marginally improved on another long trip to face Gary Caldwell’s Exeter […]
What a strange seven days MK II. The departure of Shaun Maloney was always going to be a shock to the system, a surprise departure at a time of the season when Latics fans probably least expected it. I’ll be honest after the side seemed to stabilise under Glenn Whelan I suspected that the club […]
I’ve seen some appalling decisions in my 30 odd years watching this football club but the events of the last few days must surely rank up there. Let’s start with Saturday, it was a disappointing match no doubt about it. Even after going ahead we didn’t necessarily look comfortable and then the substitutions which were […]
I told you they’d eventually drag us back in. Two draws and a win from Crawley, Wycombe and Huddersfield would be seen as a good return for a side that had struggled in February. But in true Latics fashion they up-ended that to win against Huddersfield as opposed to Crawley. In fairness to Latics the […]
