TNS continues the theme of looking back at the career of Wigan Athletic Olympians and so step forward Dariusz Adamczuk.

Dariusz, who was born in Szczecin on 20th October 1969, joined Latics on a three-month loan deal from the original Glasgow Rangers on 9th August 2001. He made his Latics League debut two days later in the opening game of the season against Brentford at the JJB Stadium. The game, which also saw Ian Nolan, Peter Kennedy, Jason De Vos and Gabor Bukran make their debuts, resulted in a 1-1 draw.

He was only to make 3 League appearances without scoring before finding himself confined to the substitutes bench. His last appearance for Latics was on 25th August 2001 in the home League game against Bristol City, which Latics lost 1-2. He returned to Rangers on 2nd November 2001 when the then Scottish Premier League side agreed to cancel his loan spell due to an injury he picked up five weeks previously. This in turn enabled Latics to sign former Republic of Ireland International Jeff Kenna on loan from Blackburn Rovers on the same day.

He retired from the game after returning to Scotland although he did have a brief spell with Pogon Szczecin Nowa in 2006.

It was whilst he was plying his trade at Eintracht Frankfurt that he won a silver medal at the Barcelona Summer Olympics in 1992.  Poland were beaten 3-2 by Spain in the Final. He also has the distinction of scoring for Poland against England on 29th May 1993 in a World Cup qualifying game.
