At the (at least) third time of asking we seem to have got our man. Both Latics and Southampton have announced a loan deal for Brett Ormerod. It seems that the deal will initially be for a month, but PJ is already talking about it becoming a permanent one. Omerod is definately a Jewell player hard working, honest and not short of skill; in my opinion a replacement for Andy Liddell (at last) but with a better goal scoring record (he’s played so little in the Prem that hardly counts).

Some may doubt his ability at this level, but for me the only question is where does he play? I can’t see that he’s been signed to replace one of the front two, but to compliment them. Jewell doesn’t seem the squad rotation sort. So is it a formation change or is Brett on the bench? We’ll just have to wait until Saturday.
