Jewell in whose crown

Author: No Comments Share:

As long as he stays at the club we’re going to have to get use to Jewell being linked with jobs at supposed bigger clubs, but Man City – it’s never going to sit well. The guardian this morning put Jewell on their short list and had their board examining his ‘credentials’. Thankfully he’s not top of the list and hopefully psycho Pearce can do us a favour and put a run of wins together between now and the end of the season distracting City from any less ‘proven’ managers out there.

The thing is though Jewell, whether off his own back or with Whelan’s boot up his arse, is going to leave us at some point.

The question is where to?  I can’t see a big club taking a risk on him but Blackburn, Bolton yes even City and their ilk are possibilities, but his aim is to get us to that position and unlike most clubs he should have the money to do something about it. Now that Whelan’s relented on his no contract policy, there aren’t many better jobs than the Latics one and Jewell’s got his head screwed on enough to see that.

I suppose there’s a chance that, along with some players, he might disappear if we don’t get promoted this year – but I’d like to think that he’s not a quitter like that plus I’d rather not talk about us chucking away this chance for the time being.
