Bury get one in the Hutch

Author: No Comments Share:

Chris Hutchings yesterday ended his enforced sabbatical by stepping in to help his old mucker, and caretaker manager, Chris Brass, at Bury.  The manager’s post in currently vacant following the sacking of Chris Casper and speculation is rife that Hutchings is attempting to get his feet under the table at Gigg Land, stealing a march on other candidates for the job.

Not so, insists Brass, claiming that Hutchings is simply doing a favour for a mate and is just there to give him a hand in training.  Whether that is the truth or an attempt to maintain authority in the dressing room, only time will tell, but Hutchings has publicly stated his desire to get back on the managerial horse that has now kicked him twice and he may see Bury as the perfect chance to do that away from the more immediate pressures of the top flight.

With first choice, Paul Simpson, already saying no to the job, Hutchings could be in prime position to take over and given some time to work on things would have the opportunity to prove exactly what influence he had in Latics rise from the lower leagues.
