Conor Sammon has parted company with Wigan Athletic and signed for Derby County.

He has signed a four year contract with the Rams after falling down the Latics striker pecking order following the return of Mauro Boselli and the signing of Ivory Coast international hit man Arouna Kone.

Speaking of his new acquisition Derby County manager Nigel Clough enthused,

“He is going to be a key player for us and when he plays regularly, we know he can score goals.  We really like how hard he works too and he will fit into our squad comfortably”

The fee that the Pride Park outfit is undisclosed but rumoured to be around the one and a half million pounds mark, add on’s included.  He may make his debut against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok next time out and all at TNS hope he makes a scoring debut, especially if it’s a winning goal ala West Ham United!
