7am

Work day and sunshine,  potent combination, deal with the dog walking duties, a quick caffeine intake and hey ho its off to work we go. A busy day beckons but at least it takes my mind off tonight.

Mood…………………its a work day what do you think? Stress levels 40%

1.30pm

Finish morning work, check twitter and texts, nothing about team news and seems subdued as if everyone is frightened of tempting fate.

Toddle off to do my afternoon work counting down the mins to kick off time

Mood …………………….pensive           stress levels stable at 40%

5pm

Home James and don’t spare the horses, tune in to talk sport ( sorry) lots of discussion re AVB’s comments re Arsenal. Contrast that to Bob who I cannot remember ever saying anything to the detriment of another club. Don’t always agree with his tactics or substitutions but no one can deny he’s a model manager.

Mood ……………………. expectant stress levels, creeping up to 50%

6pm

See the thread on St Andrews school, both my kids went there and has always been a football school. One of the teachers there is a true blue and I have no doubt she will have had some input. Town really is turning blue.

Mood ………………………….proud  stress levels stable at 50%

7pm

Meet up with my fellow road tripees’ Colin, John and Sawdoctor. Colins’ last game this season as someone didn’t think Latics would get to Wembley and booked a Caribbean holiday for May just because it happened to coincide with his Silver wedding. I mean come on who books a holiday in the football season? Answer his wife

Mood………………………bloody nervous   stress levels, bubbling at  60%

7.15 pm

Team news filters through, Caldwell to start, oh dear, we are struggling for defenders, lost three in three games, woe and doom.

Mood …………………….pessimistic       stress levels up to 70%

8.01pm

A bloody back pass and Robles picks it up, why????????????? Free kick inside the area 11, Latics men wobbling to and fro  on the line, ref takes for ages making sure they’re on the line. Blows his whistle and Latics players resemble charge of the light brigade as they race out, thankfully ball goes high over the bar.

Mood……………………………nurse the defibrillator                    stress levels 80%

8.30pm

Goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Espinoza cue lots of jumping up and down from the East Stand maniacs and me. Fandabby dozey, another get out of gaol escape beckons.

Mood………………….estactic    stress levels dropping to 40%

8.35pm

Head down onto the East Stand concourse, meet up with Sawdoctor who is evidently on a high as he decides to demonstrate some dodgy Northern Soul moves, its amazing how quickly a space appears around you when you do that.

Mood…………………………..Pensive  stress levels a stable 40%

8.50pm

Can we hang on? Can we bloody hell sit back trying to defend without a full defence , soft goal in off the post really puts a spanner in the works of our survival bid.

Mood…………………..distraught stress levels back up to 70%

8.55pm

Another Wigan goal, lovely ball from Caldwell finds McCarthy who blasts it into the net, fantastic back in front.

Mood……………………on a high   stress levels back to 40%

9.02pm

Can we hang on? Can we eckers like, Caldwell puts out a coffin pass, Swansea take full advantage and we are level again. Sit with my head in my hands, turn to guy who has sat next to me for eight years. I hate football I say it stresses me out, think yourself lucky he replies, I’ve got a pacemaker!

Mood……………………….miserable stress levels back up to 70%

9.05pm

I have an illness caused Zaki syndrome, its a gastro intestinal ailment which does have a proper name which you don’t need to know about. It afflicts me in times of stress especially towards the end of a football season ( seriously). Named after Zaki as I first experienced it when he headed the ball onto the roof of the net at Eatlands when it seemed easier to score. Anyhow reason for mentioning it, Zaki syndrome is in full flow tonight.

Mood…………………………..very anxious   stress levels 80%

9.20pm

Bloody hell, 3-2 following comic defending not out of place in a Laurel and Hardy film and we are behind again with the relegation abyss opening below us.

Mood…………………………..despair  stress levels erupting at 90%

9.25pm

Stam comes on Stam goes off 10 secs between the two, yet another defensive injury. Four in four games, now playing out time with ten men, look tired and dispirited.

Mood………………..incredulous    stress levels  90%

9.50pm

Game over and probably the beginning of the end. Fans trudge off in silent despair,Colin is an optimist but been he cannot find a silver lining in that performance. Too few quality players and too many players running on empty.

Mood……………………………..resigned  stress levels 50%

10.30pm

Start the match report, struggling to find the positives in contrast to last Saturday’s game. Many tweets saying game over and very real fears that we could get hammered against Man City.

Mood……………………….fearful     stress levels 50%
