Day 3……Sunday 27th July 2014

Author: No Comments Share:

After another excellent German breakfast, we got the underground tram to the Espirit arena for the open training session and open day which lasted for approximately one and a half hours.

We then walker back to  Dussledorf main railway station where we caught a train to Essen to watch Essen play Borussia Dortmund in a friendly.

On arriving in Essen despite having no idea where the ground was , we got chatting to some Dortmund fans who took us to where there was a free bus to the ground.

Despite the game being a sell out we managed to buy four tickets off a tout for the Dortmund end. About thirty minutes before the match we managed to jostle our way to a spot where we could see the pitch.

The game finished 5-1 to Dortmund with all six goals being scored in the first half. The crowd for the friendly was 17,000 of which approximately 15,000 were away fans from Dortmund.

After the match it was back on the free bus to Essen station and then the train to Dussledorf and then another bar.
