This time last year James McArthur and the rest of the team donated a million pounds to help with the building of the Wigan Youth Zone. This time round James will be physically helping another place close to his heart.
McArthur, a friend and his uncle are raising money and awareness for Yorkhill Children’s Hospital in Glasgow by riding 100 miles on bike between Carlisle and Glasgow next month.
All three men will set off on June 18th and hopes to complete the journey in a couple of days, revealing some of the items he’s putting up for auction on ebay for people to bid for with all funds going to Yorkhill Children’s Foundation: James who needed help from the Hospital as a child said,
“I’m selling my shirts from the winning games this season against Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United, signed by all the Scottish lads in the team – Gary (Caldwell), Shaun (Maloney), James (McCarthy) and myself.
“So far we’ve raised around £1,500-1,600 with more coming in. I’ve said if we get to £4,000 then I’ll put in £1,000 myself so hopefully we can reach that target.
“I’m also hoping to get my Scotland shirt v USA later this month signed by the entire squad and put up for sale as well.
“I’d ask anyone to help in any way they can from donating a pound to bidding for one of the items I put up for auction; it’s a special place that needs all the help it can get.”
