Villa and Albion ‘too small’ for Martinez

Author: No Comments Share:

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan insists that he hopes to keep hold of manager Roberto Martinez despite interest from Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool who are all reportedly trying to entice the Spanish managerial maestro away from the DW Stadium.

Whilst the chairman  freely admits that Martinez is destined for bigger things some time in the future, neither of those ‘bigger things’ are the Midlands outfits.

Speaking of mounting speculation as rumours of an actual bid being made by West Bromwich Albion have surfaced Whelan said,

“I believe we can keep him.  He will go eventually to a big, big club, but there are much bigger clubs than Aston Villa and West Bromwich about. I am resigned to losing him but not just yet”.
