Roberto Martinez headed to Boston for Liverpool managerial vacancy talks

Local sources understand that Roberto Martinez is on his way to Boston for a second interview with John W Henry with regards to the Liverpool management vacancy.

It had been reported that he was about to jet off to Barbados with his wife for a family  holiday and whilst this may still be on Roberto’s agenda, there will definitely be a not so slight detour to the USA.

It looks as though the Fenway Sports Group are determined to land their man, who they feel will bring fresh new, long term ideas to Anfield.  Many big names have been bandied around, including that of former England manager Fabio Cappello, but this news surely means that John Henry is now closing in on his first choice candidate?

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan will be anxious for news from America, as it now looks like he has some rebuilding of his own to do.
