Wigan Athletic – increase in crowds maintains ‘biggest club in Wigan’ status

Sources at Wigan Athletic have revealed that the club’s seasonal average with regards to match attending supporters has risen by a whopping ten percent.

Last season’s average of 18,633 represents the biggest rise in Premier League attendances apart from that of new boys Swansea City.  With season ticket sales now ongoing, it is hoped that last season’s average can also be improved on.

This news also confirms the fact that Wigan Atletic’s record of being the best supported team in town since 1995 is still intact, with the local rugby club still trailing in their wake by roughly 3,500 spectators per game.  A figure that is set to rise further this year.
