Woeful WIgan increase Rosler’s woes

Author: No Comments Share:

A performance lacking passion, chances and most importantly goals left manager Uwe Rosler’s rallying call looking somewhat hollow and Latics manager Uwe Rosler looking a man under pressure. Rosler made four changes to the side battered by Ipswich with Taylor , Huws, Waghorn, and Fortune and coming in to replace subbed Maloney, Kvist Delort and the injured McManaman Bournemouth started the game the brighter and within the first minute Wigan were forced to defend a corner following good work by dangerman Wilson. Wigan failed to make an impression in the early stages despite the best efforts of Forshaw in midfied and the ever industrious Fortune up front.

Bournemouth continued to exert most of the pressure and had the first real chance when Wilson put a cross over which eluded the Latics’ defence but last gasp defending prevented Kermorgant from opening the scoring. Bournemouth’s most dangerous player was midfielder Richie and his powerful shot went narrowly wide of Carson’s goal. The momentum was very much with the home side and Wigan man of the match had to save well to thwart Kermongant again Bournemouth’s pressure eventually bore fruit when a Richie cross was met by Kermorgant at the far post, who lifted the ball over Carson and into the net. Wigan produced very little with long range efforts going high wide and not very handsome and Wigan trooped off at half time without having troubled the Bournemouth keeper with a single shot on target and a goal down. The second half started with both teams unchanged but with Wigan playing with more purpose but still unable to muster a shot in anger on target. The home side were looking the sharper and increased their lead when Francis lost his marker and beat Carson with apomb Wigan tried to strike back but with their best chance being a well saved free kick in the last minute from substitute Delort , the pre season’s promotion favourites’ tag is wearing thin
